As March ends and April begins (and the day light exceeds twelve hours!), things to do in Anchorage always seem to increase. This week, the Great Alaska Sportsman Show starts Thursday night and goes through Sunday, drawing an amazing number of attendees. Perhaps it is the urge to greet summer and the outdoor activities that do not involve snow and ice.
And Thursday nights continue with Free After Three Thursdays at the Anchorage Museum. No charge for enjoying exhibits other than the special show or premium exhibit (now Mammoths and Mastodons: Titans of the Ice Age) on Thursday evenings. If for no other reason, visit for the Planetarium Show! The schedule of shows is provided on the Anchorage Museum website.
If you are not yet ready to give up the winter sports, attend the seventh annual Merry Marmot Festival held the first weekend of April at the Arctic Valley Ski Resort. Then head to town for the Sportsman Show, some great coffee, and a night at an inspected & approved B&B!
