Potter Marsh Viewing Area |
Today was one of those days to take a ride and view the wonders of Turnagain Arm. For years, I have wanted to take a ride to Hope, Alaska. Today was the day. Loaded the dogs in the car and headed south along the Seward Highway with the destination of Hope in mind. It was a great ride. Stopped at Potter Marsh to see the influx of migratory birds. It was a sea of gulls, arctic turns, and more varieties of ducks than you could count.
As we entered the Kenai Peninsula, we were bound for Hope. We turned in and had to stop and enjoy the beautiful views of Turnagain Arm and the fast moving river along the road. Once in Hope, we drove around and stopped to see one of the Anchorage Alaska Bed & Breakfast Association Travel Partners.
Rochelle form Alaska Dacha was a great host. She gave us a tour of her accommodations, RV park, and campground. Her rooms were great. Comfortable beds, private bathrooms, refrigerators, and microwaves. Felt like your home away from home. She then took us for a walk around her campground. Nice campsites, showers, and even laundry facilities. What more can you ask for? We went into her country store and bought some cold drinks (it was a hot day) and snacks, then visited a bit longer, sharing stories on the front porch. We were amazed to learn she had the only country store for 80 miles each way. What a great way to spend the day.
